Summer just keeps on going here in West Michigan. I am NOT complaining—the weather has been absolutely beautiful, and I have been enjoying the last days of summer. We have even been swimming in Lake Michigan recently, and that doesn’t happen often at the end of September around here!
I understand that Grand Haven has had some other excitement lately—besides the weather. Evidently, we have been hosting some celebrities here, including a Big 10 basketball team that was seen working out on our beaches. In addition, a few television celebrities were seen hanging out in Grand Haven this month. It seems like we just never know what might happen next in our beautiful beach town.
If you haven’t been down to see the changes to Grand Haven’s South Pier, you really need to take a drive along the water—or a walk on the boardwalk—and check it out. The catwalk has been removed, and the pier looks quite naked without this local landmark. It’s funny how something you have seen most—or all—of your life looks so different when just a portion of it has been removed. Our massive pier doesn’t look so massive without the 1,400 foot, 100-year-old catwalk attached to it! I can’t wait to see all the changes that take place over the next year with the pier repairs and (hopefully) the addition of a newly refurbished catwalk.
With the end of summer, we are already preparing for the upcoming holiday season here at Blueberry Haven. Yes, I know that we don’t want to think about the holidays and snow quite yet, but that’s the reality of retail. I guess that means it’s also time for you to start thinking about those holiday gifts you need to send to friends, family, coworkers, and clients, especially if you would like to have anything personalized or created for a special event.
In the past few weeks, we have had an increase in our orders for wedding favors for brides. Of course, we are thrilled with all these orders and appreciate the added business!
