Don’t Forget the Beverages

What do you do for a “bff” who is turning 50 and doesn’t want a party? She had requested to just go to dinner with a few couples and have a simple celebration to mark her milestone birthday. Her only other desire was to stay somewhere near the water.

So, another mutual friend and I began brainstorming restaurants between Muskegon and Saugatuck, and we came up with quite a few possibilities. However, as we thought about the significance of a 50th birthday, we decided that none of the restaurant choices were quite special enough for such a amazing friend.

That’s when we went to the obvious choice: move the “party” to my house. We have a great view of Lake Michigan, and we knew we could create a meal that would please all our guests, especially the guest of honor!

You can probably guess what we are using for a beverage to get the party started—Blueberry Haven products, of course! We are using our Blueberry Elixir to create a signature drink for the birthday girl. If you have never tried this product, you need to stop in and pick up a bottle. It is refreshing and delicious, and can be mixed with so many things.

Here is the recipe for the Blueberry Moscow Mule drink we are concocting for the celebration:

Blueberry Moscow Mule
1 c. ginger beer
1 shot ginger vodka
Juice of one lime wedge
Ice
Blueberry Haven Blueberry Elixir
Fresh blueberries

Directions: Pour the ginger beer, vodka and lime juice in a copper cup and stir. Add the ice and then pour a little Blueberry Elixir on the top. Stir again and garnish with fresh blueberries and a lime wedge.

Remember that our Blueberry Elixir can be used in any beverage that calls for a simple syrup. It’s so easy and yummy!

If you’re looking for another refreshing drink this summer, try adding Blueberry Haven’s Blueberry Nectar to a glass of champagne or sparkling white wine. It’s very festive, and with all the fresh blueberries available right now, you can make your drinks look pretty, too.

Cheers to another 50 years of special friendships!
